drumcode favourite harvey mckay returns to the label with a darker new sound. the glaswegian has been a regular contributor over the years, highlighted by the memorable the illusion of control ep in 2014 and his newer work with brother ryan under the alias moniker. earlier this year drumcode released the duos pentatonic ep and featured a mix on adam beyer s radio, which included black dolphin, kickstarting the hype on the track. named after the infamous russian prison, the title track is dark, tough, deeply textured brooding affair, with a menacing touch than runs through its core. mckay then brings in a huge synth line and changes up the dynamic of the track, giving it a powerful and driving feel. retox is a dark and twisted heavy-hitting cut, driven by aggressive drums and bassline, while a hypnotic synth line sustains a sense of tension throughout the six-minute track. concluding the package is cover up, a fantastic stripped back exploration into dark atmospheric techno territory that s tailor made for the winter warehouse raving season.

in 1996 serotonin label heads selway and szostek went to moscow to perform at the invitation of &#1055,&#1058,&#1070,&#1063, magazine. synapse performed at the -waterclub- and met the legendary dj compass vrubell. they went to his -studio- where he had perfected the art of making entire tracks out patterns on the yamaha dx-5. szostek brought a dat of these jams back to nyc and schmer-003 dj rx-5 -a taste for crap- was released as a small run white label in 97. the run sold out and disappeared to be forgotten forever... until 2016 szostek casually mentions its existence to techno uber-nerd nina kraviz who just had to have it for her -fabric 91- cd. so dj rx-5 was back from the ash heap of history and schmer got a new release from him on schmer07. then schmer got the word out far and wide that they d like a remix ep for two of the originals: compass provided stems because like a miracle he still had the patterns after 20 years. heeding the call were pointsman, tripmastaz, steve stoll and schmer s own bpmf. so this is what you get: -a taste for remix-. it will leave your lips wanting more, for sure!

gost zvuk marks tenth release with a new full-length by vtgnike, arguably the most influential producer on the russian electronic scene who is also partly responsible for shaping the label’s aesthetics and sonic identity.

london based electronic music label khemia records announces its sixth split release vinyl ep. the second edition of the magnum opus series on khemia records features a new production from berlin based modular powerhouse blush response alongside an electrifying collaboration between years of denial, who have previously released on oliver ho’s death and leisure label and russian techno auteur alexey volkov (jealous god). on the solar side blush response delivers ‘you will cry out in grief’ a maelstrom of industrial electronics seethes under a furious barrage of complex rhythms, as evolving symmetries disperse into incandescence. on the lunar side years of denial meet alexey volkov in the first of a new collaborative series - ‘confess’. barkosina hanusova’s voice ricochets against caustic snares as she intones a fetishistic ritual of contorted flesh and altered states.

after releasing records on l.i.e.s. and its offspring russian torrent versions labels, caserta (close to neaples, italy) native domenico crisci quickly rose to prominence among purveyors of timeless techno. a third record on eerie cemented his reputation as a careful engineer of effective, crafty dance floor cuts that comfortably sit next to early works of the genre’s pioneers.
august of 2016 sees domenico’s sonic determination surprisingly rematerializing on silent servant, regis and james ruskin’s jealous god label with a new, strong ep crowning the distinct quality of this limited series.

senso sounds collects together two of the key tracks from bossman oliver huntemann’s new propaganda album for this 12 inch release. senso has established itself as a key label in the techno scene and huntemanns ear for quality remains as sharp as ever. rotlicht is a precision-honed instrument of techno weaponry - hard as nails and featuring epic and mind-bending breakdowns. additionally the egyptian dj and producer raxon reworks the track into a deep and solid groover with plenty of attitude. ‘poltergeist’ is a journey into huntemann’s feel for sound design and space in a club context, beguiling with its seeming simplicity, before hitting home with shifting, evolving grooves and haunting synth blasts. the young russian maksim dark adds his own interpretation of poltergeist to the release, edging up the darkness a little more and producing a growling, tough techno workout that will go over big on a lot of floors this year.

having already made a strong connection with the ever-excellent udacha label, russian duo gamayun now take their talents to hesperian sound division to unfurl more of their delicate, richly musical creations. -golden ratio- leads in on stunning jazz piano refrains, edging threads of percussion into the mix with poise that sets gamayun apart from the rest of the crowd. -ascension- takes things in a more cosmic direction, all swooping and swooning synth lines beamed in from a distant star. -untitled- has a more lazy, blues-minded attitude, while -uvolnenie- edges a little more techno influence into the mix, but truly this is space-age music played by musicians with genuine chops.
